College soccer recruiting has fixed dates that shape when coaches can talk to players. Here are the NCAA Division I milestones and what a player can do before and after them.

Before June 15 after sophomore year

NCAA Division I soccer coaches cannot make off-campus recruiting contact with a player before June 15 after the player’s sophomore year. Coaches often pass information through a player’s club or high school coach during this period.

From June 15 after sophomore year

Almost all forms of contact open up: calls, texts, emails, recruiting letters and verbal offers.

From August 1 before junior year

Division I programs can host official visits from August 1 before the player’s junior year.

Other divisions

Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs follow different rules and calendars. Check each level’s current rules, because they change.

What a player can control

Keep grades strong, build a short highlight video with current game footage, and ask your club coach for honest feedback on the level you fit. Train the specific skills that coaches at that level will expect.
